Judith Ellen “Judy” Pitchford, 76, of Union, Missouri and formerly of Glen Carbon, Illinois passed away at 7:25 p.m. on Thursday, August 22, 2024, at Delmar Gardens in Fenton, Missouri. Judith was born April 9, 1948, in Granite City, Illinois, the eldest sibling of eight to the late Harry Edward and Leola Imogene (Williams) Noud. She married Walter Van Pitchford on January 31, 1970, at St. Cecilia Catholic Church in Glen Carbon and he survives. She was a former member of St. Cecilia Catholic Church and enjoyed her days of gardening, reading, time on the beach and traveling. She will be remembered for the love and special times shared with her family and friends. In addition to her beloved husband, she is survived by a son, Stephen Walter Pitchford and his husband, Nathan Berra of Crestwood, Missouri; two daughters, Katherine Marie Barber of Fayetteville, North Carolina and Allison Nicole Pitchford of Union, Missouri; two granddaughters, Marissa Barber and Lucie Barber; seven siblings, Ritchard Noud of West Port, Iowa, Jan Bresnahan and her husband, Jim Bresnahan of Lawrence, Kansas, Randal Noud and his wife, Kathy Noud of Dutzow, Missouri, Jacqueline Noud of Wesley Chapel, Florida, Joyce Sumpter of Granite City, Jamie Danks and her husband, David Danks of Edwardsville and Robert Noud of Granite City; many nieces and nephews; other extended family and friends. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a son, Mark Joseph Pitchford and a brother-in-law, Dave Sumpter.
In celebration of her life, visitation will be at Irwin Chapel, 591 Glen Crossing Road in Glen Carbon on Wednesday, August 28, 2024, from 11 a.m. until time of funeral service at 1 p.m. with Father Patrick Gibbons officiating. Burial will follow at Calvary Catholic Cemetery in Edwardsville. Memorials may be made to the American Diabetes Association and may be accepted at the chapel. www.irwinchapel.com
