Judith “Judy” D. Koehler-May, age 71 passed away, Tuesday, September 06, 2011 at 9:05 a.m. at Alton Memorial Hospital in Alton.
She was born in Alton on March 6, 1940, daughter of the late Raymond P. & Mildred E. (Kirchner) Koehler.
She married Wesley May in Osage Beach, MO. He preceded her in death March 9, 2011.
Judy was employed at TWA in the special service department for 42 years and 5 month, where she received a special service award from the airlines for her worldwide service, retiring in 2001. She was involved with the Metro East Humane Society. She enjoyed going to church at the Assembly of God Church, where she was a true believer in the word. She loved water skiing, camping, boating, being in the outdoors, vacationing at her cabin at Osage Beach, MO, animals and especially her cats.
She leaves behind one aunt, Betty Jouett of White Hall, IL; 15 cousins and their spouses, Janet & Denny Hansen, Karen & Warren Rabe, Linda Cohen, Christopher & Pam Jouett, Jimmy & Shirley Kirchner, Eldon & Joan Kirchner, Ronnie Kirchner and Linda Clark, Marvin & Arlene Kirchner, Ida Louise & Richard Cox, Sandra & Bob McCollom, John & Jeanne Koehler, Donna & Charles Coleman, Richard & Mary Jane Koehler, Ron & Harriet Koehler and Bill Koehler; good friends, Mary Goode of Bethalto, Kevin Bradley of Alton and Kitty Solorio of Alton and her three cats, Yeller, Lump and Blackie.
Preceded in death by her parents, husband, and several aunts and uncles.
Visitation will be from 5:00 pm until 8:00 pm on Thursday, September 8, 2011 at Elias, Kallal and Schaaf Funeral Home in Bethalto.
Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. on Friday, September 9, 2011 Elias, Kallal and Schaaf Funeral Home in Bethalto with Pastor Gary Goode officiating.
Burial will be held at Rose Lawn Memory Gardens in Bethalto.
Memorials may be made to the Metro East Humane Society.
