Joyce Lotz
East Alton |

Joyce "Joy" Deloma Lotz, 78, of East Alton, passed away on Wednesday, March 12, 2025, at Barnes-Jewish Hospital.
She was born in Alton, IL, on June 6, 1946, to Thomas and Jewell (Huggins) Fettinger. Joy married Theodore "Ted" V. Lotz 47 years ago, on March 27, 1976.
Joy graduated from Alton High School in 1964, and graduated as a Registered Nurse from St. Luke's School of Nursing in St. Louis in 1967. She was a nurse for over 40 years, most recently at Christian Hospital Northeast, from which she retired in 2011.
She was very active in the lives of her children, as Brownie leader, Cub Scout Leader, PTG President in the Ferguson-Florissant School District, and was a Room Mother for many, many years. She was an accomplished artist and crafter. She was also active in her church. At Grace Lutheran Church in Bellefountain Neighbors, she was a Stephen Minister, and also made many banners to beautify the church. At Zion Lutheran Church in Bethalto, she helped with the Braille Committee and the Sisterhood of Stitching.
Because of her caring nature and nursing background, she was always the "go to person" for friends and family.
Joy is survived by her husband, Ted, of East Alton; her daughter, Michelle Struble of Tennessee; and sons, Kevin Lotz of Ohio, and Jeremy (Cassie) Lotz of Missouri. She has three grandchildren, Brianna, Camden, and Sophie; and a brother, Mike (Chris) Fettinger of Mississippi.
Visitation will be held on Thursday, March 20, 2025, from 9:30 am until time of service at 11 am, at Zion Lutheran Church in Bethalto. Pastor Kale Hanson and Pastor Brandon Metcalf will officiate.
Burial will follow at Upper Alton Cemetery.
Elias, Kallal and Schaaf Funeral Home in Bethalto is assisting the family with final wishes.
Memorials are suggested to Zion Lutheran Church of Bethalto and/or The Lutheran Hour Ministries (660 Mason Ridge Center Dr, St. Louis, MO 63141).
