Joyce J. Webber, 82, passed away unexpectedly and went to be with the Lord on December 5, 2010 at 11:50 p.m. Born Dec. 3, 1928 in Alton, she was a daughter of William Chester and Lottie Bell (Joyner) Tidwell.
The married John W. “Jack” Webber at Cherry Street Baptist Church in Alton on Apr. 6, 1957. He passed away Dec. 14, 2004. She received an Associates of Art degree from Lewis & Clark Community College in 1985. A lover of music and art, she played a mean jazz piano for many years with the Lewis & Clark College Jazz Band. She also was a lover of bargain shopping. She will be greatly missed by family and friends.
Survivors include a daughter, Julie Webber of Hillsboro, Mo.; a son and daughter-in-law, William “Bubba” and Donna Webber of Wood River; three grandchildren and their spouses, Jamie and Jennifer Crutchley of Fenton, Mo., Jason and Christina Crutchley of Fenton, Mo., and Anna Darr of Alton; three great grandchildren, Mackenzie and Kara Crutchley of Wood River and Nathan Crutchley of Fenton; two sisters, Ruth Leamon-DaGue of Alton and Ann Nietzke of Los Angeles, Calif.; four nieces, Cathi Edler, Deanna Baird, Patty Leamon, and Nanette Good; and one nephew, Jack Leamon.
In addition to her husband Jack, she was preceded in death by her parents and a nephew, Mark Andrews.
Visitation will be 4-7 p.m. Wednesday, Dec. 8 at Paynic Home for Funerals in Rosewood Heights, where Rev. Walter McCaslin will officiate services at 10 a.m. Thursday, Dec. 9.
Interment will be at Bethalto United Methodist Cemetery in Bethalto.
