Joshua Patton

Jerseyville |

Joshua William Patton, 26, died unexpectedly at 10:15 a.m., Sunday, August 13, 2023 at his home in Jerseyville, following complications of Diabetes.

He was born in Jerseyville on September 26, 1996, the youngest of three sons born to Richard and Regina (Horn) Patton.

Josh grew up in the Medora and Brighton areas, prior to the families move to Jerseyville.

In his younger years, he enjoyed riding around town on his bicycle and following his diagnosis with Diabetes at the age of 18, could often be found traveling around town in his wheelchair.

He loved spending time outdoors and socializing with those he encountered on his adventures, always leaving each interaction with a warm smile and a “Have a blessed day!”

Josh also enjoyed fishing and was a passionate Pokemon Go player. He had a deep love for exotic cars and a fascination for shoes that was unmatched – Osiris being among his favorites.

He was known for his love of animals, bringing in many family pets throughout the years, all of which he loved and cared for deeply.

He had a vibrant and uplifting personality. Despite his own personal struggles, he always put the needs of others before his own and looked for ways to lift up those around him.

Family held a very special place in Josh’s heart, and he looked up to his brothers, Daniel and Larry.

While their hearts are truly shattered, the family finds peace in knowing that Larry and Joshua are together in a world free of this earthly worlds struggle.

Surviving are his parents, Richard and Regina Patton of Jerseyville; a brother and sister in-law, Daniel and Amber Horn of Brighton; his niece, Anna Horn; his grandparents, Rose and Jerry Witt of Marion and Richard Patton Sr. of Missouri; a very special aunt and cousin, Etta and Aubree Horn of Godfrey; along with aunts and uncles, Tom (Brenda) Horn of Greenfield, Bill Horn of Godfrey, Theresa (Norm) Warner of Granite City, Shirley (Andy) O’Brien of St. Louis, Missouri, Christine Engler and Valerie Stephens, both of Marion; cousins, Kaitlyn, Samantha, James, Dylan, Shelby, Miranda and Billy.

In addition to his brother, Larry; he was preceded in death by his grandparents, Diane Jenkins and Omer Earl Horn; as well as a nephew, Justin Horn.
