Joseph W. Mancewicz, 73, passed away at 8:06 a.m. Friday, February 26, 2016 at his home. Born December 29, 1942 in Litchfield, IL, he was the son of Joseph C. and Leona (Hubert) Pernicka of Staunton. Mr. Mancewicz retired as a State Trooper with the Illinois State Police and was a member of St. Ambrose Catholic Church in Godfrey. He married the former Alice Sievers at St. Michael Catholic Church in Staunton on March 7, 1964. She survives. Also surviving are two sons, Michael J. Mancewicz (fiancé Nancy Hampton) of Godfrey, and Mark A. Mancewicz (Lisa) of Springfield, IL, four grandchildren, Joseph C. Mancewicz and Jacob M. Mancewicz both of Godfrey, Brooke D. Valenti and Matthew C. Mancewicz both of Springfield, IL. Three sisters, Marie Walls and Julia Pernicka both of East Alton, and Barbara Jean Wisnasky of Columbus, GA, and a brother, Richard Mancewicz of Atlanta, GA, sisters-in-law, Leona Sievers and Evelyn Cruthis both of Litchfield. Along with his parents was preceded in death by grandparents, William and Louise Hubert of Staunton, his in-laws, Charles and Leona Sievers of Staunton and a brother-in-law Rodney Cruthis of Litchfield. Visitation will be from 5:00 p.m. until time of memorial service at 7:00 p.m. Sunday, February 28, 2016 at Gent Funeral Home in Alton. Father Steve Pohlman will officiate.
