Joseph P. Meisenheimer, 77, passed away at 3:25 pm on Tuesday, July 17, 2012 at his home.
He was born on May 15, 1935 in East Alton, IL, the son of Christian A. and Mary (DeLuka) Meisenheimer.
His wife, Reta passed away in July 1997.
Joe served his country in the U.S. Air Force from 1956 to 1960. He was the owner/operator of J & J Radiator for over 40 years. He was a member of the Bethalto Masonic Lodge #406, the Wood River Moose Lodge #1349 and the Belleville Shriners. He enjoyed bowling, gardening, wood splitting, card playing and most of all he loved spending time with his grandchildren and great grandchildren.
He is survived by his children, Debbie and Chuck Williams of Rosewood Heights, Rick and Helen Powell of Lake Havasue, AZ and Robin and Ronnie DePew of Wood River; ten grandchildren and their spouses, Tonya and Levi Chunn, Corey and Trese Williams, Amy Powell-Lefler and Matt, Dawn Powell and her fiancé, Todd Purliventi, Megan and Mike Cerentano and Andrea Parrish, Cindy and Kevin Sanderson, Nathan and Andrea DePew, Chris DePew and Brittany Powell; seven great grandchildren, Devon, Abbey, Brooke, Kameron, Mallory, Shelby and Ryan; two sisters and brothers-in-law, Marlene and Mickey Barach and Rose and Glen Bickmore all of Bethalto; a sister-in-law, Leota Meisenheimer of Wood River and his nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents and wife, he was preceded in death by a son, Robbie Powell, a granddaughter, Dawn Christine DePew and three brothers, Richard, Kenneth and Robert Meisenheimer.
Visitation will be from 4 to 8 pm Friday, July 20, 2012 with a Masonic Service at 7 pm at Elias, Kallal and Schaaf Funeral Home in Bethalto.
Funeral services will be at 11 am on Saturday, July 21, 2012 at the funeral home with Pastor Mike Rayson officiating.
Burial will follow at Rose Lawn Memory Gardens in Bethalto.
Memorials may be made to Shriner’s Children’s Hospital.
