Joseh P McKee

Joseph P McKee, 93, died at 4:35 a.m. Saturday, April 2, 2016 at Jerseyville Manor in Jerseyville, IL.  Born August 10, 1922 in Alton, he was the son of Wilbur and Loretta (Lawless) McKee.  Joe worked maintenance for the Alton School District for 32 years.  Joe and his family also ran McKee’s Market in Upper Alton, farmed and had a peach orchard in Godfrey.  Joe was a loving husband, father and grandfather.  On August 1, 1946 he married Dorothy Marie Corey in Alton and were married for 69 years.  Dorothy survives.  Also surviving is their son, Joseph “Randy” McKee and his wife Janice McKee; two grandchildren, Joseph “Corey” McKee and his wife Victoria “Tori”, and Sarah McKee; and one great grandchild, Rhett Joseph Henry McKee.  He was preceded in death by his parents, brothers, Louis “Bud”, Allen “Jack”, Lester “Les”; and sisters, Margaret and Elizabeth “Betty” Fessler.  At his request, burial will be private at Valhalla Memorial Park in Godfrey.  In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to a charity of choice.  Gent Funeral Home in Alton is in charge of arrangements.  Online guestbook and information may be found at www.gentfuneralhome.com
