Joseph J. Ebbert Jr. passed away at 11:07 am, Thursday, July 7, 2010 at Alton Memorial Hospital.
She was born in Alton, on January 23, 1934, the son of Joseph J. Sr. and Gladys Rachel (Bockstruck) Ebbert.
He married Marolyn Pinkerton on December 7, 1962 at the First Methodist Church in Wood River, Il. She survives.
He was a member of First Presbyterian Church in Alton and graduated from Alton High School in 1951 and Rankin Technical Institute. He served his country in the U.S. Army during the Korean Conflict as a M.P. and was a member of the pistol team. He was a member of the Alton VFW Post 1308 in Alton, and a member of the Alton Eagles Lodge and Ducks Unlimited.
He retired from Hutchinson Foundry Products after 43 years of service.
In addition to his wife, Marolyn Ebbert of Godfrey, he is also survived by two daughters and a son-in-law, Jenny & Roger Frazier of Marble Hill, MO and Nancy Ebbert of Quincy, Il one grandson, Elijah John Frazier, a sister, Virginia Porter of Godfrey, two sisters-in-law and brother-in-law, Carolyn & Jerry King of Wood River, Il and Pat & Roy Haug of Rosewood Heights, Il.
In addition to his parents, he was also preceded in death by one brother, Walter Ebbert; one sister, Dorothy James, and a brother-in-law, Dale Porter.
Cremation rites will be accorded.
In celebration of his life, a memorial visitation will be from 1 pm until time of memorial services at 3 pm Saturday July 10, 2010 at Elias, Kallal & Schaaf Funeral Home in Godfrey.
Inurnment will be held at a later date at Valhalla Memorial Park Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to Ducks Unlimited or the World Bird Sanctuary.
