JERSEYVILLE-  Joseph Gregory Dierking Sr., 64, died unexpectedly at 10:15 p.m., Thursday, January 31, 2013 in the emergency room at Jersey Community Hospital in Jerseyville.He was born in Carrollton on Jan. 4, 1949, and was the son of the late Nolan & Myra (Fitzpatrick) Dierking.He graduated in 1967 from Jersey Community High School, and served with the U.S. Navy on the USS Enterprise from April 1969 to April 1973.  He had been employed at Olin Corp. in East Alton for 35 years, retiring in 2011 as a Machine Adjustor.Joe married the former Connie S. Young on June 12, 1971 at the St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church in Jerseyville, and have celebrated 41 years together.Surviving are his wife, Connie Dierking of Jerseyville; their three children & their spouses, Joseph & Angie Dierking of Waveland, Ms., Michelle & Ronald Woolsey of Jerseyville and Craig & Nicole Dierking of Freeburg; eleven grandchildren, Katie Ellspermann, Colleen Dierking, Kimie Ellspermann, Cameron Dierking, Dylan Denson, Chris Woolsey, Cheyenne Woolsey, Damian Woolsey, Tiffany Woolsey, Shelby Woolsey, Austin Woolsey, and his twelve grandchild, Caroline Dierking, arriving in April; a brother & his wife, Patrick & Lynn Dierking of Alton.; along with many nieces and nephews.In addition to his parents, he was  preceded in death by two brothers, John Francis Dierking Sr. and James Dierking; and three sisters, Mary Scoggins, Margaret Davies and Elizabeth Anne Hunter.Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Monday at the Crawford Funeral Home in Jerseyville, where funeral services will be conducted at 9 a.m., Tuesday.  Rev. Paul Spickerman will officiate.Burial will be in the Oak Grove Cemetery in Jerseyville, with the Jerseyville American Legion Post 492 conducting military graveside rites.Memorials may be given to his family in care of the funeral home
