Joseph Edward Barrett, 84, passed away at 8:00 am, on Saturday January 5, 2013 at Alton Memorial Hospital.
He was born in Du Quoin, IL in on March 3, 1928 the son of the late William and Matilda (Segelken) Barrett.
He Served his country in the US Army during the Korean War. He worked as a crane operator for Combustion Engineering and at the Roxana Grade School as a custodian.
He is survived by four daughters; Kristina Barrett, Tammy Barrett, and Toni Barrett, all of Florissant, MO, and Debra and Tom Barnett of IN; a son, Donald Edward Barrett, of Alton; two granddaughters Ashley Balicki, and Jenna Kirkbride; and two grandsons Ronnie Barrett, and John Barnett.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a daughter; Terri Barrett; four sisters, Delores Bryant, Maureen Barrett, Alberta Bishop, and Wilma Barrett; and two brothers, Bill Barrett, and Walton “Cotton” Barrett.
In celebration of his life visitation will be from 4 pm till time of service at 7 pm Tuesday January 8, 2013 at the Elias, Kallal & Schaaf Funeral Home in Alton, the Rev. Jamie Carter will officiate.
Per His wishes cremation Rites will be accorded.
