John Dickinson Wilson Jr., 84, of Piasa, passed away on Tuesday, August 13, 2024, at Missouri Baptist Hospital in St. Louis.

He was born on December 7, 1939, in Piasa, the son of the late John D. Wilson Sr. and Ada (Werts) Wilson.

John Married Joyce Davis on June 2, 1961, in Alton. She preceded him in death on December 9, 2012.

He served our country in the United States Army. John worked as a Millwright at Laclede Steel for almost 40 years. He was a firm believer in serving his community. John was an active member of Mt. Pleasant Methodist Church in Piasa, served as a Mason, volunteered at Martha's Pantry in Shipman, was a regular blood donor with the American Red Cross, and was a strong supporter of Southwestern’s Scholastic Bowl. He enjoyed woodworking, bowling, and spending time with his children and grandchildren, always cheering them on at their sporting events, or just spending time together and enjoying a rootbeer float.

John is survived by four children Bruce Wilson (Debbie Harvey) of Medora, Beth Chappell of Moweaqua, IL, Becki Wilson of Piasa, and Brooke (Lewis) Brandon of Piasa; eight grandchildren Jennifer (Tim) McMillin, Brandon (Kayla) Chappell, Christopher (Melissa) Chappell, Tyler Wilson, Raechel Brandon, Emma Brandon, Dale “DJ” Brandon, and Thang Hoang; nine great grandchildren; brother Charles (Mary Ann) Wilson; sister in law Kathleen Wilson; daughter in law Lisa Blaes; companion Stella Hughes.

He was preceded in death by his Parents, John Sr. and Ada; wife, Joyce; brother Dale “Cy” Wilson; mother and father in law Roy and Bessie Davis; sister in law Alice Mae Davis; brothers in law Vernon and Harold Davis.

Visitation will be held from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. on Friday, August 23, 2024, at Anderson Family Funeral Home in Brighton.

Funeral Service will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, August 24, 2024, at Anderson Family Funeral Home in Brighton.

Burial will follow at Tribble Cemetery in Piasa.

Memorials may be made to Mt Pleasant Methodist church for the building fund or Shipman Masonic Lodge #212.
