John Medlock

John R. Medlock, 84, died at 12:07 p.m. on Wednesday, March 10, 2021 at his residence. He was born September 1, 1936 in Alton the son of John Leslie and Loretta M. (Buffington) Medlock.

He served in the U.S. Army and was a member of St. Ambrose Catholic Church. John was owner of Medlock Insulation Co. and he enjoyed hunting, riding horses, working outside and was a gentleman farmer.

On September 12, 1955 at St. Matthew Catholic Church in Alton, he married Jeanette Brooks and she survives. Also surviving are five children. Susan Means (Kevin) of Brighton, Matthew Medlock (Karen) of Godfrey, Cindy Korte (Jeff) of Brighton, Mark Medlock (Peggy Lyons) of Brighton and Christopher Medlock of Alton, eleven grandchildren, Jason Means (Kami), Jennifer Zimmerman (Sean), Dcanna Means, Clarrisa Means, Michael Means, Nathan Medlock (Theresa), Bradley Medlock, Liz Springman (Mike), Justin Means (Apryl), Ryan Medlock (Katie) and Brandon Medlock. Fourteen great grandchildren, Brittany Dorris (Austin), Taylor Means (Matt Todd), Shelby Means, Jana Pena (Mario), Katie Zimmerman, Ethan Medlock, Kayle Medlock, Jillian Krewson, Parker Springman, Tyler Springman, Ashton Springman, Dylan Wiseman, Zoey Medlock and Liam Medlock. Five great great grandchildren, Levi Dorris, Evalynn Dorris, Amelia Pena, Oliver Means and Lincoln Means. Two brothers-in-law, Bill Brooks (Peggy) and Charles Tague, and several nieces’ nephews and cousins.

Besides his parents, he is preceded in death by one sister, Loretta Tague his brothers in laws and sisters in laws, Lee Brooks, Mary Jo Brooks and Fred Brooks, his father and mother-in-law, Art and Adelaide Brooks.

Visitation will be from 1:00 p.m. until time of prayer service at 3:00 p.m. at Gent Funeral Home in Alton on Saturday, March 13, 2021. Deacon Bill Kessler will officiate.

Memorials may be made to St. Jude Children’s Hospital.
