John Lee “Jack” Fletcher, 82, of Alton, IL, passed away at 9:52 a.m. Sat. Mar. 15, 2014 at Rosewood Care Center in Alton.
He was born Feb. 6, 1932 in Hillsboro, IL to the late Harold & Thelma (Goavia) Fletcher.
On Feb. 5, 1952 he and Dorothy V. Elmore were married in Hillsboro. They celebrated 45 years of marriage until her passing Feb. 9, 1997.
Jack was a US Navy Korean War veteran and worked for the former McDonnell-Douglas Co. for over 25 years as an X-Ray technician, retiring in 1981.
He is survived by: a son, Eric Fletcher of Frederick, CO, 2 daughters, Jan Hammond of Alton and Joni Shields of Bunker Hill, IL, 6 grandchildren, 9 great-grandchildren and 2 sisters, Marry Ellen Schroeder of Hillsboro and Jane Brown of Raymond, IL.
Besides his wife and parents, he was preceded in death by: 2 sons-in-law, Dr. Dale Hammond and Stan Shields, a sister, Jean Fletcher, twin to Jane and a brother, Carl Fletcher.
Visitation will be from 10:00 a.m. until time of services at 11:00 a.m. Tues. Mar. 18, 2014 at Paynic Home for Funerals with Rev. Matthew Prince officiating. Burial will follow at Rose Lawn Memory Gardens.
