John Hamilton, 90, passed away at 4:30 pm Sunday, May 8, 2011 at Methodist Hospital in Peoria.
He was born on September 29, 1920 in White County, the son of Wiley and Sarah (Bruce) Hamilton.
He married Alma Reedy on August 30, 1942 in St. Charles, MO. She survives.
John was a school teacher for the Wheeling, Illinois School District and the Fairmont City Illinois School District. He was a member of the Mt. Hawley Community Church and formerly a member of the Wood River Church of God and the Meadowbrook Church of God.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by two daughters and son-in-law, Virginia and Barry Post of Chillicothe and Jan Owens of Brighton; seven grandchildren, John Post, Karen Hart, Tammy Post, Stephen Post, Paula Wright, Todd Owens and Lisa Owens; twelve great grandchildren and his nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents and ten siblings.
Visitation will be from 4 to 8 pm Thursday, May 12, 2011 at Elias, Kallal and Schaaf Funeral Home in Bethalto. Funeral services will be held at 1 pm Friday, May 13, 2011 at the funeral home with Pastor Jonathan Absher officiating.
Burial will follow at the Rose Lawn Memory Gardens in Bethalto.
