John Fowler

John "Jerry" G. Fowler, 91, of East Alton, passed away on Tuesday, March 25, 2025.

He was born in Alton, IL, on May 15, 1933, the son of John and Dorothy M. (Hubner) Fowler. He has spent the last 43 years with his life partner, Karen Vogan. She survives in Alton.

Jerry is a United States Army Veteran, serving during the Korean War. He attended SIU Carbondale. From there he worked at Olin Corporation as an electrician for 30 years before his retirement in 1995. He enjoyed golfing, fishing and gardening. Most of all he loved spending time with his family and friends.

Along with his true love, Karen, he is survived by his children, Greg (Lisa) Fowler of Rosewood Heights, and Mike (Connie) Fowler of East Alton; three grandchildren, Nick (Chelsea) Fowler, Josh (Chandler) Taylor, and Alexis (fiancé Brandon Weiss) Fowler; four great-grandchildren, Oliver, Noah, Waylon, and Weston; as well as several nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents; and a brother, James D. Fowler.

A celebration of life will be held on Saturday, March 29, 2025, from 11 am to 2 pm, at The Wood River Moose. Military rites will be performed by Alton VFW Post 1308 at 12 pm.

Memorials are suggested to Shriner's Hospital for Children, St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, and/or Siteman Cancer Center.
