John Albrecht

Greenfield |

John David Albrecht, 76, of Greenfield, passed away unexpectedly on February 18, 2025 at Carlinville Area Hospital.  He was born December 26, 1948, in Carrollton, the son of John Henry and Theresa (Molohon) Albrecht.

He is survived by his mother Theresa, Brenda (Goode) Albrecht, his wife of 58 years, a daughter, Jennifer (Albrecht) Grummel, a granddaughter, Megan (Cole Huey) Redding, a grandson, Colin Grummel, one great-granddaughter, Sawyer, due in August, his beagle Sammi, a sister Rita (Don) Mackinson, a brother Ron (Sharon) Albrecht, and several nieces and nephews.

John was drafted into the Army when he was 19 and later served in Vietnam. He was an avid John Deere collector and could turn any piece of junk into a beautiful tractor.

He took pride and joy in the land he owned, most recently the 65 acres he acquired from his father, John Henry. He loved spending time sprucing up his land and always looked out for the best mushroom and arrowhead patch.

He was always seen with his beloved beagle Sammi, whether it was taking her to the coffee shop or for a ride to check out the scenery. She was his little buddy.

He lived every day to the fullest for not only himself but his family. His smile and laugh were contagious to anyone around him.

As per his request, cremation rites will be accorded and there will be no services.

Memorials are suggested to the Carlinville Area Hospital Foundation or the Alzheimer’s Association, and can be mailed to the Shields-Bishop Funeral Home, 604 Walnut Street, Greenfield, IL. 62044.
