Joann Elaine Tunehorst, 82, passed away after a lengthy illness on Tuesday, July 24, 2012, at Pikes Peak Hospice, in Colorado Springs.
She was born on June 14, 1930, in Alton, IL, the daughter of the late Charles J. and Helen M. (Kaburick) Meyer.
Joann was united in marriage to Robert Roy Tunehorst Sr. in September of 1958. He preceded her in death on April 9, 2000.
She was employed by the Olin Corporation for many years and than a homemaker and thoroughly enjoyed spending time with her husband, raising her children and spending quality time with her grandchildren. She was a former member of St. Ambrose Catholic Church in Godfrey, IL, and attended Marquette High School in Alton, IL and Lewis & Clark College in Godfrey.
Joann is survived by a daughter and spouse; Ann and Tim Hanlon of Colorado Springs, a son and his spouse; Robert and Kristine Tunehorst Jr. of Colorado Springs, and six grandchildren: Adam, Anna, Abbey, Joe, Katie and Jessie, and many nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by a son: Michael Tunehorst in 1980 and a sister Mary Ellen Groesch.
In celebration of her life, visitation will be from 9:30 am, Saturday, August 4, 2012 at St. Ambrose Catholic Church in Godfrey, IL, till time of the Mass at 10:30 am, Father Jerry Wickenhauser will be the celebrant.
Burial will follow at St. Patrick’s Cemetery in Godfrey, IL.
Memorials may be made to the American Heart Association.
