Joan Keller

Joan Yvonne (Garvey) Keller, 91, died at 7:00 p.m. Wednesday, November 8, 2023 at her home in Alton.  Born March 30, 1932 in Alton, she was the daughter of Bernard F. Garvey Sr. and Josepine E. (Chessen) Garvey.  Joan graduated in 1950 from Marquette Catholic High School and was a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Alton.  On October 10, 1953 she married Jack Keller at St. Patrick’s Church in Alton.  He survives.  Mrs. Keller enjoyed her summers at the Lake of the Ozarks and babysitting her grandchildren.  Along with her husband, Jack, she is survived by her children; John (Cathy) Keller, Cindy (Bob) Roth, Lisa (Tim) Duffy, grandchildren; Chris (Andrea) Roth, Greg (Jessica) Roth, Katie (Mike) Dohr, Elizabeth (Brad) Dunn, John Robert (Melissa) Keller, Molly Duffy (Mitch Schmidt), Cole Duffy, and Jack Duffy and great grandchildren; Ella, Andrew, Tyler, Alana, Brady, Caden, Alex, Robbie, Annie, Allie, Emma, Ryan, and Caroline.  She was preceded in death by her parents and 10 siblings, Josephine Gregory, Madeline Herb, Jack Garvey, Rosemary Smith, Bernie Garvey, Kitty Boone, Jimmy Garvey, Tom Garvey, Bob Garvey, and Gerry Garvey.  Visitation will be from 9:30 a.m. until time of Mass of Christian Burial at 11:00 a.m. Monday, November 13, 2023 at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Alton.  Burial will be at St. Joseph’s Cemetery in Alton.  Memorials may be made to Marquette Catholic High School or St. Mary’s Catholic Church.  Gent Funeral Home in Alton is in charge of arrangements.  Online guestbook and information may be found at www.gentfuneralhome.com.
