Jimmy (Jim) Burnette Gasaway went to be with the Lord on December 24, 2024, at his home in Cape Coral, Florida with his family by his side. He was 86 years old and originally from East Alton, Illinois. He had been a resident of Cape Coral, Florida since 1988.
Throughout his life Jimmy had many accomplishments. He proudly served in the United States Army from 1960-1966. He was a barber/stylist at Thorps Barber Shop and House of Styles in Wood River, IL for 42 years then going on to another career in sales for 19 years. He retired in 2008 from Tropical Pools Construction Company in Cape Coral.
Jimmy accepted his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ into his life and was saved at the age of 15. He served as Sunday School Teacher and a Deacon at First Baptist Church of Wood River, IL; First Baptist Church of Cape Coral, FL; and at New Hope Church of Cape Coral as well.
Jimmy was preceded in passing by his parents; mother and father in law; and other extended family members.
He leaves behind to cherish his memory his beloved wife Jane; sons Jeffrey and Jon; granddaughter Jennifer Haynes of Baltimore, MD; and grandson Jimmy Gasaway of Gatesville, TX.
A Memorial Service will be held on Monday, December 30th, 2024 at 4:00 p.m. at New Hope Church, 431 Nicholas Parkway East, Cape Coral, FL 33990.
His family requests in lieu of flowers memorial contributions be made in Jimmy’s honor to New Hope Church.
