Jimmy D. Ellis Jr. 54 passed away at 12:15 pm, on Sunday, October 25, 2015 at his residence. He was born in Alton, IL, on August 7, 1961 the son of the late Jimmy D. and Donna (Mathews) Ellis SR.Jim graduated from Law School at Southern Illinois University in Carbondale, IL in 1995. After 13 years working as both a criminal prosecutor for St. Clair County, IL and as a personal injury plaintiff and defense attorney, Jim Ellis founded the Ellis Law Firm in 2008. Jim started teaching at St. Louis University in 2012.   He is survived by a sister and her spouse: Debra L. and Jerome Hall of Alton, seven aunts and uncles: Sharon and Jerry Cox of Alton, Riley and Gloria Mathews of Alton, Geroldine Trimm of Brighton, IL, Rosetta Stone of Granbury, TX, Lorraine and Martin Peters of Wood River, IL, Rebecca Mathews of Alton, IL and Mary Nassello, of Alton, IL, and his best friend: Andrew Liefer of Shiloh, IL, and his associate Jennifer A. Beckett of Freeburg, IL and numerous cousins. His parents preceded him in death. Visitation will be from 4 to 8 pm, Thursday, October 29, 2015, at the Elias, Kallal & Schaaf Funeral Home in Alton, where visitation will continue from 10 am till time of service at 11 am, Friday, October 30, 2015 with Father Jim Walter OMV as celebrant. Burial will follow at Valhalla Memorial park in Godfrey, IL. Memorials may be directed to the Jimmy Ellis Scholarship Fund at St. Louis University, St. Louis, MO.
