Jim N. Beane, 86, died at 7:10 p.m. on Friday, May 20, 2016 at Willow Rose Rehab & Health Care in Jerseyville with his family by his side. Jim was born in Alton July 11, 1929, the son of Clyde and Fern (Craig) Beane. He loved the outdoors, especially hunting and trapping. He married the former Elizabeth Ruckman at 12th Street Presbyterian Church in Alton on October 7, 1950. He served as a tank commander as a sergeant first class in the 2nd armored division during the Korean War stationed in Germany. He spent 13 years at Olin Corporation and later operated Beanehaven Dairy Farm for 25 years in Godfrey. He held numerous offices in dairy organizations both local and state level. He retired from dairy farming and sub-divided the farm into two acres building sites, which is now known as Fox Run Estates. He became a real estate broker with Landmark Realty for 9 years, and worked on several committees during the time Godfrey became a village. He is survived by his wife, Elizabeth of 65 years, a son David Beane of Godfrey, a daughter, Jana Graham of Atlanta, three beloved granddaughters, Ashlee Graham of Atlanta, Aubrey and Avery Beane of Godfrey, one brother, Herschel Beane (Marjorie) of Godfrey, and one sister-in- law, Laura Beane of Fort Atkinson, Wisconsin. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by one brother, Craig Beane. Visitation will be from 4:00-7:00 p.m. on Tuesday, May 24, 2016 at Gent Funeral Home in Alton where funeral services will be at 9:00 a.m. on Wednesday, May 25, 2016. Burial will be at Valhalla Memorial Park in Godfrey with Full Military Honors by VFW Post 1308. Memorials may be made to BJC Hospice or American Cancer Society.
