Jim L. Stone, 69, passed away at 10am on Wednesday, August 22, 2012 at his residence. He was born on May 15, 1943, in St. Louis, Missouri, the son of the late Carl J. and Doris M. (Vogt) Stone. He married the former Kay Gillman on December 16, 1966, in Jennings, Missouri and she survives. Other survivors include one daughter: Dianna Stone of South Roxana, one son: Carl Stone of South Roxana, one grandson: James Derek Maguire of South Roxana, one granddaughter: Michelle Nicole Stone of St. Louis, Missouri, one sister: Judy Stone of Farmington, Missouri, and one brother and sister in law: Charles and Georgia Stone of Farmington, Missouri.
He formerly owned and operated JSI Services and Stone & Son Hauling in Creve Couer, Missouri and J & K Sanitation in South Roxana. He was a former volunteer fireman for the Village of South Roxana, past President of the Beautification Club in South Roxana, and a former member of the Planning Commission in South Roxana.
He was preceded in death by his parents, three brothers: Larry, Rick, Don, and one grandson: Derek Maguire.
In celebration of his life, visitation will be from 10am to 1pm on Saturday, August 25, 2012, at Pitchford Funeral Home in Wood River. Following visitation and in accordance with his wishes, cremation rites will be accorded.
Memorials are suggested to BJC Hospice and will be accepted at the funeral home.
