Jim L. Blake, 76, died on October 19, 2011 at St. Anthony’s Hospital in Alton, IL.
He was born on January 21, 1935 to Olive (Bottom) and Willard Blake.
He married Marlene Vogel on September 14, 1973. She preceded him in death on May 10, 2009.
Jim grew up in Alton and graduated from Alton Senior High School and Benedictine College. He was a loving husband, proud father, and loyal friend. In his younger years he enjoyed golf, fishing, boating, entertaining friends and playing cards. He had a long career in the electrical contracting industry with Industrial Electrical Supply and United Electric Supply Co. He also worked at Securitas/Conoco-Phillips. Jim and Marlene loved to golf and owned the Clubhouse Golf Shop in Alton for ten years.
He is survived by a son, Steven of Indianapolis, IN; a sister and her husband, Judith B. Tutt and Rowlan of Glendale AZ and sister-in-laws, Jeny Bassler, Sharron Lovato and Ramona Brown and her husband Dr. James Brown.
In addition to his wife, Marlene, he was preceded in death by his parents, Olive and Willard, and a son, James Patrick, “JP” Blake.
In celebration of his life, visitation will be from 3 to 6 pm Sunday, October 23, 2011 at Elias, Kallal and Schaaf Funeral Home in Godfrey.
Funeral service will be at 1 pm on Monday, October 24, 2011 at Elias, Kallal and Schaaf Funeral Home in Godfrey, with Father Steve Pohlman officiating. Burial will follow at Valhalla Memorial Park.
In Lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Leukemia/ Lymphoma Society or to St. Ambrose Catholic Church.
