Jerry Wilson

Jerry E. Wilson, 76, of Wood River, passed away on Thursday, April 3, 2025.

He was born in Alton, on March 31, 1949, the son of Elvis and Vera (Thomas) Wilson. Sharon R. Spurgeon, his wife of 19 years survives.

Jerry worked at Kenstra, where he started as a truck driver, ending his career there, retiring as the plant manager. He was a member of the Teamsters Local Union #525 and later #50. Jerry enjoyed hunting, fishing, and being outdoors. He had a cabin in Southern Illinois where he spent much time. Most of all, Jerry loved spending time with his friends and family, especially his grandchildren. He was always there for others and will be sadly missed by many.

Along with his wife, Sharon, he is survived by his children, Dawayne (Luwayna) Wilson, Christian Wilson, Jennifer (Kevin) Bradley, Jane (Gary) Novack, and Dustin (Krystal) Wilson; siblings, JoAnn Nelson Ottwell, Janet (Ray) Gilleland, Theresa Copeland, and Mike (Pam) Wilson; many grandchildren and great-grandchildren; and a large extended family.

He was preceded in death by his parents; a brother and sister-in-law, Jim (Jane) Mihalich; a sister, Carol Jean Wilson; and a brother-in-law, Larry Copeland.

The family will host a Celebration of Life at the Round House in Wood River, on Monday, April 7, 2025, from 2 to 6 pm.

Cremation rites will be accorded by Elias, Kallal and Schaaf Funeral Home.
