Jerry Franklin Strahan, 78, passed away at 12:38 am Wednesday, August 24, 2011 at his home while under the care of TIP Hospice.
He was born on December 3, 1932 in Oakdale, LA, the son of Mervin Isaac and Beadie Lasalle (Aaron) Strahan.
He married Barbara Cooper on February 5, 1968 in East St. Louis, IL. She survives.
Jerry served his country in the in U.S. Navy as a Corpsman. He was a switchman at Terminal Railroad for 25 years. He was a member of Amvets and he enjoyed playing horseshoes and pool.
In addition to his, he is survived by his children and their spouses, Mike and Mary Strahan of High Ridge, MO, Lisa Strahan of Cape Girardeau, MO, Robert Strahan of Manchester, MO, Jerry Strahan Jr. of Granite City, Diana and David Allard of Elkville, IL, Denise and Steven Grady of Granite City, Linda Harms of Alton, Brian Harms of House Spring, MO, Mike Molloy of Ohio and Sharon and Larry Clapper of WA; 22 grandchildren, 26 great grandchildren and a brother, Tom Strahan of Owensville, MO.
He was preceded in death by his parents, two daughters, Jerice Strahan and Brenda Molloy and a son, Mike Strahan.
Visitation will be from 10 am until services at 12 Noon on Tuesday, August 30, 2011 at Elias, Kallal & Schaaf Funeral Home in Bethalto.
Burial will be on Wednesday, August 31, 2011 at 1:30 p.m. at Jefferson Barracks National Cemetery in St. Louis, Missouri.
