Jerome “Jerry” E. Lampe, 83, passed away at 3:35 pm Monday, January 28, 2013 at Barnes Jewish Hospital in St. Louis, MO.
He was born on November 16, 1929 in Granite City, IL, the son of Adolph and Augusta (Stieb) Lampe.
He married Samantha Webb on June 30, 1976 at Zion Lutheran Church in Bethalto. She survives.
Jerome served his country in the U.S. Navy. He was a general foreman at Laclede Steel until his retirement in 1984. After his retirement he worked in maintenance for the Holiday Shores Association. He was of the Catholic faith and a member of the Alton VFW Post 1308.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by ten children and their spouses, Geraldine and Gary Eccles and Cheryl and Eddie Madeline all of Angleton, TX, Edward and Robin Lampe of Bryan, TX, Stanley and Sue Lampe of Houston, TX, Victoria Faust of Collinsville, Randy Lampe of Fairview Heights, Jerome Lampe Jr (Linda) of Greenville, IL, Darrell and Sharon Wright of Moro, Brenda and Larry Lang of Godfrey and Tommy and Debbie Wright of Glen Carbon; numerous grandchildren and great grandchildren;
He was preceded in death by his parents, his first wife, Elizabeth “Betty” Schwander, a daughter-in-law, Inez Lampe, a brother, Myron Lampe and a sister, Phyllis Presley.
Visitation will be from 6 to 8 pm on Wednesday, January 30, 2013 at Elias, Kallal and Schaaf Funeral Home in Bethalto.
Funeral will be on Thursday, January 31, 2013 at 11 am at Elias, Kallal and Schaaf Funeral Home in Bethalto with Pastor Willard Meyer officiating.
Burial will follow at Calvary Cemetery in Edwardsville with military rites given by Alton VFW Post 1308.
