Dixon, Jean Marlene (nee Ruckman) was born in Alton, IL on April 29, 1932 and lived her entire life in the Alton/Godfrey area. On January 29, 2021, at age 88, she passed away peacefully with her family at her side after battling a rare bacterial lung infection.
Jean was the beloved daughter of Jean (Huber) and Edward Ruckman and sister to Joan, married to Ed Wickenhauser, who all passed before her. She had 3 children with her late husband Jim Dixon ' Judy Dixon Deaton (married to Nate) residing in San Jose, CA; Jody Dixon (married to Kathy Casso) residing in St. Louis, MO; and Jim Dixon (married to Amelia) residing in Godfrey, IL. She is also survived by Arthur Williams, her companion the last 27 years, and her five grandchildren: Drew (24), Emma (14), Ethan (14), Rudy (13) and Lydia (11).
It was always very clear what was most important to Jean ' it simply came down to her family, faith, and friends. She was a devout Catholic. Her role as a daughter, mother and grandmother was at the center of her life. Playing cards with her friends was her favorite pastime. Jean was a generous, caring individual with an infectious, bold, welcoming personality.
Jean attended St. Patrick's Grade School and graduated from Marquette High School in 1950. She went on to work at the Owens-Illinois Glass Co. for ten years prior to starting her family.
There will be a private showing at Gent Funeral Home limited to immediate family due to COVID restrictions. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at St. Ambrose Catholic Church on February 6th at 11:00 AM for family and friends. CDC guidelines will be followed. The mass will also be live on Facebook ' St. Ambrose Parish Godfrey, IL. Burial will be at St Patrick's Cemetery in Godfrey immediately following the mass. Donations in her memory can be made to Alzheimer's Association or St. Ambrose Church, where Jean was a member for over 50 years.
