Jean A. Ewen, 80, passed away at 6:20 am Monday, April 8, 2013 at Manor Grove Nursing Home in Kirkwood MO.
She was born on August 24, 1932 in Hartford, IL, the daughter of John C. and Opal M (Jimpson) Braddy.
She married Carl Eugene Ewen on October 6, 1950 at St. Matthews Church in East Alton, IL. He passed away on December 10, 1993.
Jean worked as a secretary at Olin, and McDonnell Douglas, MCI and Arch Mineral in St. Louis. She was a member of St. John Bosco in Creve Coeur, MO. She enjoyed playing bridge, golfing and volunteering, and most of all she loved spending time with her family.
She is survived by her children and their spouses, Mark A. Ewen of Chicago, IL, Nancy J. and Ken Horn of Eureka, MO, Tom A. and Sallie Ewen of Seattle, WA, John M. and Maria Ewen of Eureka, MO and Therese S. Ewen of Ellisville, MO; four grandchildren, Torey, Chris, Emily and Alyssa; her siblings and their spouses, Virginia Downer of Bethalto, Joan and John Gholson of Rosewood Heights, Carolyn Shive of Roxana, Stanley Braddy and Warren Ingram of Dupo, IL and Terry and Richard Sinclair of Godfrey and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents and her husband, and a brother, John E. Braddy.
Visitation will be from 12 Noon until services at 1 pm on Saturday, April 13, 2013 at Elias, Kallal & Schaaf Funeral Home in Bethalto. Burial will follow at St. Joseph’s Cemetery in Alton.
