Janet Werner

Janet J. Werner, 90, passed away 1:05 a.m. on Sunday, August 18, 2024, at Evercare of Edwardsville. She was born on January 24, 1934, in Madison, Illinois, the daughter of the late Peter and Margaret (Smolar) Fecurka. She married Gerald R. Werner on April 11, 1953, and he preceded her in death. Survivors include three sons: Kevin and Cathy Werner of Harrisburg, Illinois, Keith (Lisa Bevill) Werner of Madison, Gerald R. and Patty Werner, Jr. of Catonsville, Maryland, six grandchildren: Scott (Nicole) Werner, Brian (Erin) Werner, Jeffrey (Ashley Roseman) Werner, Matthew (Tiffany) Werner, Adam Tinervia, Nick Tinervia, ten great grandchildren, a brother and sister in law: Peter R. and Pat Fecurka, Jr., and many other extended family and friends.

Janet was formerly employed in the accounting department at International Shoe Company. She was a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Madison where she was very involved in the St. Ann Society. She loved spending time with her kids, her grandkids, great grandkids, and her church.

In addition to her parents and her husband, she was preceded in death by her daughter: Kathleen Tinervia, two sisters: Irene and Elaine.

In celebration of her life, visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. on Thursday, August 22, 2024, at Thomas Saksa Funeral Home in Granite City. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10 a.m. on Friday, August 23, 2024, at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Madison. Father Steve Thompson will be the celebrant. Burial will follow at Calvary Cemetery in Edwardsville.

Memorials are suggested to St. Mary’s Catholic Church and will be accepted at the funeral home
