Janet Rae “Jarrett” Roberts, 72, passed away at 12:47 pm Sunday July 17, 2011 at
The emergency room at Alton Memorial Hospital and went to meet her Savior.

She was born in Alton on September 16, 1938 the daughter of the late Harry and Esther (Doerr) Jarrett.

On October 20, 1956, she married the late Allen (Sid) Roberts of Alton (the Love of her Life). They celebrated their Fiftieth Wedding anniversary, before he died September 5, 2001.

She was a member of Abundant Life Community Center formerly Edward Street Assembly of God Church Where she was a Sunday School and VBS teacher, and took part in Christ Ambassadors Youth Group. Her Life was always centered around church activities and the deep love for Jesus Christ.

Janet had been employed at the downtown Alton Sears store for 6 years. She also had been employed by the Medical Group of Wedig, Elliott, Wooster, & Gross during her Senior year at Alton high School. She graduated in 1956 from Alton High School and was employed by Dr. Buzan in opening his practice.

She leaves behind two daughter’s and a son-in-law; Deborah J. Roberts of Alton, and Dawn and Robert “Bob” Ruyle of O’Fallon, MO. a son; Dennis L. Roberts of Godfrey, two grandchildren, Molly M. Ruyle and Adam J. Ruyle of O’Fallon, MO. and numerous cousins, nieces, nephews and many longtime friends.


In addition to her parents and husband she was preceded in death by; a sister, Arlene V. (Jarrett) Warstler of East Molin, Il. and one brother; Alyn C. (Bud) Jarrett of Cottage Hills, Il.  

In celebration of her life, visitation will be from 4pm to 8pm Thursday, July 21, 2011 at Elias, Kallal & Schaaf Funeral Home in Alton, IL.

Funeral service will be at 10 am Friday July 22, 2011 at the Abundant Life Community Center in Alton, Il with the Rev. Andre Dobson and Rev. Earl Warstler officiating.  

Burial will follow at Rose lawn Memory Gardens, in Bethalto, Il.

Memorials may be directed to the American Heart Association or the American Diabetes Association.
