Janet Kaye Lebegue, 83, of rural Medora, passed away on Sunday, February 2, 2025, at Villas of Hollybrook in Jerseyville.
She was born on June 24, 1941, in Alton, the daughter of the late George and Muriel (Show) Scheffel. Janet married Lester Lebegue on March 24, 1961, in Jerseyville; he preceded her in death in 2015.
She was a tax preparer for Action Tax and also worked at the Jerseyville FSA office. She was a member of Bethel Baptist Church, church treasurer, Sunday school teacher, VBS teacher, and a member of ABW group at Bethel Baptist Church. Janet enjoyed painting, playing piano, board games, cards, and doing puzzles. She always looked forward to going to lunch with her friends after church every Sunday.
Now you have entered the streets of gold in heaven. Janet has filled our hearts with so much love, happiness, and joy. She was an amazing, beautiful, daughter, wife, sister, aunt, and friend.
She also loved her church family. The memories you have given us will always be in our hearts. God has given you a new body of Eternal Life in Heaven.
Janet is survived by three siblings, Donald “Buck” (Judy) Scheffel of Jerseyville, Elaine (Gary) Turner of Medora, and John (Kaye) Scheffel of Assumption; several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband; parents; two infant sons Richard and David.
Visitation will be held from 4 to 7 p.m. on Thursday, February 6, 2025, at Anderson Family Funeral Home in Brighton.
Funeral will be held at 10 a.m. on Friday, February 7, 2025, at Bethel Baptist Church in Jerseyville.
Burial will follow at Gullick Cemetery in Highland, IL
Memorials may be made to Bethel Baptist Church.
