Jane Isringhausen
Jerseyville |

Mary Jane “Jane” Isringhausen, 95, passed away peacefully at 2:59 a.m., Thursday, June 19, 2025, at Gillespie Health and Rehab Center, following a brief illness.
Born on May 22, 1930, in Carbondale, Illinois, she was one of two daughters born to the late Hal B. and Mary A. (Youngblood) Mountain. Jane spent her early years in Carbondale and later in Benton, Illinois, where she graduated from Benton High School. She continued her education at Southern Illinois University in Carbondale, earning her Bachelor of Science Degree in English Studies. Her passion for education and literature led her to pursue a Master’s Degree in Library Science from Vanderbilt University.
Jane began her professional journey in Skokie, Illinois, but soon found her heart in Jersey County, where she embraced the beauty and rhythm of small-town life. For many years, she served the Jersey Community Unit School District #100, where she became a driving force in the development of the elementary school library systems. Her visionary approach and dedication earned her a reputation not only among her colleagues but also among educators across the region, many of whom adopted her innovative practices. In her later years with the district, she also served as the Director of Instructional Materials, retiring in 1985 with a legacy of excellence and impact.
On September 5, 1981, she married Floyd G. Isringhausen in Jerseyville, and with that union came a new chapter filled with love, laughter, and the joys of a blended family. Together, they made their home on the Isringhausen family farm and shared a truly wonderful life. Retirement brought the gift of travel, and Jane and Floyd embraced it fully. They enjoyed exploring the United States, Canada, and Mexico. From snowy adventures in Wisconsin to sun-soaked days along the Alabama coast, they cherished every mile and memory.
Jane’s greatest joy, however, was her family. A woman of deep faith and service, she was a longtime member of the Fieldon United Church of Christ, where she served on the church council and led children’s activities for many years. Even after Floyd’s passing on December 24, 2008, Jane remained active and deeply engaged with her community. She returned to Jerseyville, where she gave her time to the Jersey Community Hospital Resale Shop and the Jerseyville Public Library. For the past three years, she found friendship, fun, and a second home at the Villas of Hollybrook in Jerseyville.
Jane was also a lifelong bridge player, a pastime she enjoyed with enthusiasm and skill - always finding joy in the game and the fellowship it brought.
Surviving are her daughter and son-in-law, Paula and Derek Ackley of Irondale, Alabama; two grandchildren and their spouses, Laura and Matt Uhrig and Brian and Danielle Ackley, all of Birmingham, Alabama; five great-grandchildren, Turner, Grant, Ava, Lily, and Maeve; and a dear friend, Edie Dugger of Jerseyville. Jane’s life was enriched by the many friendships she formed throughout her life, each one a reflection of her kindness, intellect, and grace.
In addition to her parents and her husband, she was preceded in death by her sister, Kaye McDonald.
Visitation will be held from 4 to 6 p.m., Thursday, June 26, 2025, at Crawford Funeral Home in Jerseyville. Graveside services will take place at 11 a.m., Friday at Fieldon Cemetery.
Memorials may be given to the Fieldon United Church of Christ, in honor of Jane’s lifelong faith and service to her community.
