James W. 'Bill' Wegeng, age 83, of Edwardsville, Illinois, passed away on Thursday, April 1, 2021, at his residence. He was born November 1, 1937, in Tuscola, Illinois, the son of the late John Thomas & Margaret L. (Madigan) Wegeng. Bill worked as the Business Agent for Teamster Local 525 in Alton, Illinois, for many years. He is survived by four sons, James W. Wegeng, II & wife Benedicta, of Murrieta, California, Glen T. Wegeng & wife Michele of Villa Grove, Illinois, John C. Wegeng of Maryland Heights, Missouri, Paul E. Wegeng & wife Angela of St. Charles, Missouri; one daughter, Juliana Kozik & husband Chris of St. Peters, Missouri; eleven grandchildren & one great grandchildren. Bill was preceded in death by one brother & three sisters. Bill was a member of St. Boniface Catholic Church in Edwardsville, and a member of the Edwardsville Municipal Band where he has served on the Municipal Band Board since 1975. He loved his cars and also was passionate about Indy Car racing. A visitation will be held from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. on Tuesday, April 6, 2021, at Weber & Rodney Funeral Home in Edwardsville. A funeral mass will be held at 1 p.m. on Wednesday, April 7, 2021, at the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Bongard, Illinois, with Fr. Keith Walder officiating. Burial will be at St. Joseph Cemetery in Bongard, Illinois on Wednesday. The family request memorials to the Center for Autism Education in care of Weber & Rodney Funeral Home.
