James William Turvey, 76, died at 2:38 p.m. Friday, March 14, 2025 at Alton Memorial Hospital.
Born March 26, 1948 in Martins Ferry, OH, he was the son of Herbert William and Elizabeth Essie (Johnson) Turvey. He retired from the U.S. Air Force and also worked for the street department with the City of Alton.
On April 4, 1986 he married Mary Elizabeth Wuellner in Alton. She survives.
Also surviving is a son, Stephen Turvey of Pinckneyville, IL a sister-in-law and brother-in-law, Dr. Kathie Wuellner and Dr. John Wuellner and one niece and nephew.
Along with his parents, he was preceded in death by a sister, Joyce Turney.
A memorial Mass of Christian burial will be at 11:00 a.m. Friday, April 4, 2025 at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Alton. Memorials may be made to Hope Animal Rescue.
