James T. Harmon Sr

James T. Harmon Sr., 80, passed away at 4:17 pm Saturday, December 5, 2015 at Anderson Hospital in Maryville, IL.
He was born on June 29, 1935 in Pulaski Co., IL, the son of George Logan & Sarah (Richardson) Harmon.
He married JoAnn Marie (Ray) on August 16, 1958 at St. John’s Catholic Church in Coffeen, IL. She preceded him in death on January 12, 2014 after 55 years of marriage.
Jim served his country during the Korean Conflict in the United States Air Force.
He attended Marquette Catholic High School graduating with the class of 1952. He also attended Ranken College. He was employed at Shell Oil Co. in Wood River IL for over 20 years retiring in 1993. He was a member of Our Lady Queen of Peace Catholic Church in Bethalto. Jim enjoyed many years of coaching baseball. He was an avid runner. He also enjoyed watching the Chicago Cubs, bowling, playing golf, going to local restaurants, watching children and grandchildren play sports and most of all spending time with his family
He is survived by his children and their spouses, James and Elise Harmon Jr. and Michael L. Harmon all of Bethalto, Ken and Beckie Harmon of East Alton, Linda and James Perry of Bethalto and Ron and Beth Harmon of St. Charles, MO; seventeen grandchildren, Sarah, Natalie and Adam Harmon, Chris (Marissa), Brad and Chelsea Harmon, Abby, Keri, Alex and Levi Harmon, Ethan and Jared Bugg and Caleb, Elizabeth, Madeline, Claire and Kyleigh Harmon; two great granddaughters, Skylar Harmon and Briana; three sisters, Dorothy Joyce of Godfrey, Clara Kesler of Dongola, IL, sister in law Evelyn Atkinson of White Hall, IL, Betty Nichols of Godfrey and several nieces, nephews, cousins and in-laws.
He was preceded in death by his parents, wife, a son-in-law, John Bugg, two sisters Ann Stowski and Doris Rose, two Brothers Joe and Louis Harmon.
Visitation will be from 4 to 7 pm on Friday, December 11, 2015 at Elias, Kallal & Schaaf Funeral Home in Bethalto.
A funeral Mass will be at 10 am Saturday, December 12, 2015 at Our Lady Queen of Peace Catholic Church in Bethalto with Father Jim Flach and Father Tom Liebler officiating.
Burial will be at a later date at Rose Lawn Memory Gardens in Bethalto.
Memorials may be made to the American Heart Association or Our Lady Queen of Peace Catholic Church.
