James Robert Hyman, 74, passed away at 5:15 am Thursday, October 13, 2011 at his residence with his wife and sons by his side following a lengthy illness.
He was born on November 1, 1936 at home to William and Cecil (Fisher) Hyman.
On October 4, 1964 he married Carol Hardesty. She survives.
James was a roller for Olin Corporation, Brass Division in East Alton for 43 years, retiring in 1999. He loved the Lord, his family, country music and small children. He enjoyed spending his time with his family and friends and performing with his band in the Illinois and St. Louis area.
In addition to his wife, he is survived and will be sadly missed by two sons and their spouses James “Casey” and Vicki Hyman of East Alton and John and Brenda Hyman of Fidelity, IL; his mother-in-law, Nettie; three brothers and two sisters-in-law, Clifford and Pauline Hyman of Brighton, Jack and Shirley Hyman of Bethalto and Donald Hyman of Benld; four step grandchildren; three step great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, one grandson, three sisters, Irene Smith, Charlotte Gillson and Carol Jean Maggart and a brother, Albert Hyman.
Visitation will be from 4 to 8 pm Monday, October 17, 2011 at Elias Kallal & Schaaf Funeral Home in Bethalto. Funeral services will be 11 am on Tuesday, October 18, 2011 at the funeral home with Captain Randy and Melinda Tooley officiating.
Burial will follow at Valhalla Memorial Park in Godfrey.
