James H. Young, 92, passed away at 7:58 am on Wednesday, July 17, 2013 at Rosewood Care Center in Alton.
He was born on September 22, 1920 in Judsonia, AR, the son of Bruce P. and Ola (Gibson) Young.
He married Sue Ritchey on October 18, 1941 in Eldorado, AR. She passed away in 1999.
James served his country in the U.S. Army and was in the Army Reserves for 22½ years. He was a utilities operator for Amoco Oil for 28 years, retiring in 1980. He was of the Methodist faith and was a member of the Wood River VFW #2859 and the Alton Eagles FOE #254.
He is survived by a son James “Pete” Young of O’Fallon, MO and a daughter, Susan E. Lynn of Edwardsville; seven grandchildren and four great grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, wife and a brother, Preston G. Young
Visitation will be from 11:00 am until services at 12 Noon on Saturday, July 20, 2013 at Elias, Kallal & Schaaf in Bethalto.
Burial will follow at Rose Lawn Memory Gardens in Bethalto.
