James H. Weeks Jr., 86, died at 4:35 a.m. Monday, June 13, 2011 at Blu-Fountain Manor in Godfrey.  He was born July 18, 1924 to James and Bessie Weeks, in a farm house in Gipson, MO.  He was the oldest of ten brothers and sisters.  He was awarded five bronze stars for his service in Europe during WWII.  Upon returning from WWII, he married Fay Dell Lindsey on July 7, 1946 in Pixley, California.  They moved to Godfrey in 1954.  He was a long time employee of Laclede Steel in Alton.  He was a good Christian man and taught Sunday school, sang in the choir, and he and his family were very active members in the Melville Congregational Church in Godfrey.  He loved God, his family, and his music. He was preceded in death by his wife, Fay Weeks, who passed away in May 2008.  He was also preceded in death by his parents, and two sisters, Joanne Cashion, and Estella Jackson.  Surviving are a son, Dennis Weeks of Bethalto; a daughter, Rena Howland of Roxana, a son and daughter-in-law, Jimmy and Phyllis Weeks of Roxana; six grandchildren and their spouses, Spencer and Theresa Giles, Michael and Mary Ann Howland, Darin and Terri Howland, Derek and Shannon Weeks, Ilafaye Elizabeth Weeks, and Ryan and Nicole Howland; 10 great-grandchildren, 1 great-great grandchild; two brothers, Blouwn Weeks, and Donald Weeks; and five sisters, Colleen Patterson, Joyce Waltrip, Verla Talkington, Lavonne Chism, and Linda Montgomery.  Memorials may be made to the Blu-Fountain Manor in Godfrey.  Gent Funeral Home in Alton was in charge of arrangements.  Additional information and online guest book may be found at www.gentfuneralhome.com
