James E. Kulp, 89, passed away at 2:59 am Saturday April 7, 2012 at Provision Living in Godfrey.
He was born on March 1, 1923 in St. Louis, MO the son of Ernest and Hilda (Gyer) Kulp.
He married Kathleen Birk on July 11, 1971 in St. Louis, MO. She preceded him in death on July 8, 2010.
Jim served his country in the US Army during WWII. He was a reporter for the Alton Telegraph from 1957 until retiring in 1988 and was still writing articles for the paper up to the year 2010.
He is survived by a son Martin Kulp and his spouse Sheila of San Pedro, Ca, two brothers Ben Kulp of St. Louis, Charles Kulp and his spouse Gail of State College, PA, one sister Gina and her spouse Joe Marcheski of Dallas, OR., and one brother-in-law Ted Jorden.
He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife and one sister Dorothy Jorden.
Visitation will be from 9 until the time of service at 10 am Friday April 13, 2012 at St. Mary’s Catholic Church where a Mass of Christian Burial will be conducted with Father Jim Walther OMV officiating.
Burial will follow at Jefferson Barracks National Cemetery in St. Louis, MO
Memorials may be made to St. Mary’s Catholic Church.
