Jack R. Jameson died at 1:30 a.m., Friday, July 23, 2010, his 78th birthday, after a brave battle with cancer.
He was born in Hannibal, Mo. on July 23, 1932, the son of the late Roy "Pun" and Mabel (Morgan) Jameson.
Jack was a U.S. Army Korean War veteran, and was a resident of California for many years until moving to Jersey County in 1975. While in California, Jack owned and operated Pinto Floor Covering in Redwood City, Ca. While in Jerseyville, he was able to enjoy his retirement, and was a active member of the Jerseyville Elks Lodge #954 and the First Assembly of God. He married the former Barbara J. Garcia on Aug. 31, 1950 in Reno, Nevada, and the two spent many years together raising their family of four children, and were known to be lovers of music and wonderful dancers. Barbara died on May 26, 1992 after nearly 42 years of marriage.
Surviving are two sons & daughters in law, Michael & Teresa Jameson of San Jose, Ca., and Jack A. & Lynne Jameson of Monterville, WV.; two daughters & sons in law, Kristen & William McNair of Florissant, Mo., and Jamie & Mike Batkin of El Paso, Tx.; eight grandchildren; three great grandchildren; and a sister, Carole Hadden of Alton.
He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, and four brothers, William, Richard, and Robert Jameson, and one in infancy.
Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m., Thursday at Crawford Funeral Home in Jerseyivlle, with and Elks Service of Remembrance beginning at 7 p.m.
Further visitation will continue on Saturday from 11:30-1:30 at the Black-Cooper-Sander Funeral Home in Hollister, Ca.
He will be entombed in Calvary Cemetery in Hollister, Ca., with chapel services taking place there at 2 p.m., with military services to follow.
Memorials may be given to the Jersey Community Hospital volunteers.
