Jack Miller

Dr. Jack J. Miller, 75 of Edwardsville, Illinois passed away on Wednesday, June 28, 2023, at Barnes Hospital surrounded by family.

Jack was born on June 29, 1947, the son of Olga D. and Thomas J. Miller of Madison, Illinois.

Jack married Gail L. Rogers of Edwardsville Illinois in 1970. Together they had 2 children, Caryn and John Miller.

“Dr. Jack” practiced dentistry in Granite City for over 30 years. His primary joys, outside of work and watching out for the well-being of family, were reading, hardly ever being seen without ab book, fishing, exercising, and trying to be helpful to his community.

After retiring from his practice, Jack taught at the SIUE dental school and subbed at Edwardsville high school. He also kept busy volunteering for a variety of organizations such as the Anderson Hospital, the USO in St. Louis, the Glen Ed Pantry, the Wildey Theater and the Knights of Columbus, of which he was a 4th Degree Knight.

Jack was a loving husband, father and a doting grandfather to his 3 granddaughters. He will be missed by his family and community and is survived by his wife Gail (Rogers) Miller of Edwardsville, Illinois, children Cary Miller (Rodney Gerdes) of St. Louis, Missouri, John Miller (Katy Rutter Miller) of Webster Groves, Missouri; grandchildren Grace, Lucy and Lauren Miller, twin brother Thomas J. Miller, Jr. (Bonnie Holland Miller) of Granite City, Illinois, brothers and sisters in-law Dick and Lynn Rogers of Edwardsville, Illinois, Craig and Coleen Rogers of Granite City, Illinois and Lorna and Dave Reisner of Flagstaff, Arizona as well as many cousins, nieces and nephews.

Jack was preceded in death by his sister Marlene Hart.

In celebration of his life, visitation will be at Irwin Chapel, 591 Glen Crossing Road in Glen Carbon on Sunday, July 2, 2023, from 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. with a Knights of Columbus Chalice Presentation at 7:00 p.m.  A Funeral service will be held at Irwin Chapel in Glen Carbon on Monday, July 3, 2023, at 10:00 a.m. with Father Jeff Holtman officiating.  Burial will follow at Calvary Catholic Cemetery in Edwardsville.

Memorials may be made to the Edwardsville YMCA, the Glen-Ed Pantry or to a charity of one’s choice and may be accepted at the funeral chapel.  www.irwinchapel.com
