Isabelle A. Vartan, 98 of Granite City, Illinois passed away peacefully at her daughter’s home on Sunday, December 12, 2021.

Isabelle was born on July 16, 1923, in Granite City; the daughter of the late Avedis and Ankin (Tatoian) Parsaghian. Isabelle was a medical secretary for 30 years at the Granite City Army Depot, retiring in 1989. She was a member of St. Gregory Armenian Church in Granite City where she was active in the Ladies Guild and served as president of the Armenian Relief Society. In her free time, she enjoyed her days of spending time with her family and will be remembered for all the special times they shared together.

Isabelle is survived by and will be missed by her children; Charles Vartan Jr. of Granite City, Illinois, Ken Vartan of Anchorage, Alaska, Rebecca and Paul Willhoft of Webster Groves, Missouri; grandchildren, Kwan Willhoft and Sam Vartan and many other close family members and friends.

In addition to her parents, Isabelle was preceded in death by her husband of 13 years; Charles Vartan Sr.; sisters, Rose Hagopian, Helen Abbott; brother, Evon Parsaghian.

Visitation will be held on Sunday, December 19, 2021, from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. with a prayer service to follow at Irwin Chapel, 3960 Maryville Road in Granite City. In celebration of Isabelle’s life, funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Monday, December 20, 2021, at St. Gregory Armenian Church, 1014 West Pontoon Road in Granite City with Fr. Taniel Manjikian officiating. Burial will follow at Sunset Hill Memorial Estates in Glen Carbon. Memorial donations are suggested to St. Gregory’s Armenian Church.
