Irma Rose Turner, 91, died Sunday, May 8, 2011 at Jerseyville Nursing & Rehabilitation Center.She was born in Moweaqua, Il. on March 28, 1920, the daughter of the late Henry & Martha Virginia (Lansford) Duncan. After the death of mother when was two years of age, Irma was raised in Panama, IL., by her grandparents, the late Perry & Martha Cruthis.In her younger years, Irma had worked at the former Western in East Alton where she was an inspector, and had retired as a pysychiatric aide at the Jacksonville State Hospital where she had been employed for 12 years.She was formerly married to Homer Tungett of Alton, and together they had a daughter, Donna. She then married Cecil Jack Turner on Dec. 14, 1951 in Carrollton, and together they shared nearly 43 years together before his death on Aug. 24, 1994.Surviving are a daughter & son in law, Donna & David Hawk of Alton; three granddaughter & their spouses, Karen & Allan Scroggins of Alton, Marsha Hawk of Alton, and Kelly & Ted Johnson of Florissant, Mo.; 10 Great Grandchildren; and three step children, Carolyn Long of Danvers, Ernest Turner of Texas, and Steven Turner of Bloomington.She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, a grandson, David Hawk; a sister, Verna Leverett; and two brothers, Ballard Duncan and Harold Duncan.Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Thursday at the Crawford Funeral Home in Jerseyville, where funeral services will be conducted at 1 p.m. Friday. Rev. Chuck Keene will officiate.Burial will be in the Kane Cemetery.Memorials may be given to the Kane Baptist Church.
