Imogene Ruth (Schaaf) Cavanaugh, 84, died at 5:16 p.m. Monday, November 8, 2010 at her residence.
She was born on June 9, 1926 in Fieldon, and was the daughter of the late Leslie & Ruth (Levi) Schaaf.
She married Joseph Cavanaugh on July 15, 1964 in Cairo, IL., and the two were married were married just shy of 10 years before his death on March 9, 1974. In her younger years, she was employed at the International Shoe Factory in Jerseyville, and served as a nanny for area families, and later, cared for the elderly in their homes.
She was baptized a Jehovah Witness in 1970 and attended the Kingdom Hall in Jerseyville.
Surviving are a sister, Opal Powell of Jerseyville; two brothers & a sister in law, Bert & Alma Schaaf of Fieldon and Leo "Pete" Schaaf of Bunker Hill; and numerous nieces & nephews, including a special niece, Joann, and her husband, Paul Cunningham of Jerseyville.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, a sister, Agnes Isringhausen; three brothers & sisters in law, William & Cora Schaaf, Walter "Bud" & Dorothy Schaaf, and Frank & Evajean Schaaf; and a sister in law, Charlotte Schaaf.
Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at the Crawford Funeral Home in Jerseyville, where funeral services will be conducted at 10 a.m. Thursday.
Burial will take place in the Fieldon Cemetery.
Memorials may be given to the building fund of the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah Witness in Jerseyville.
