Imogene Powell, 91, died at 3:09 a.m. Sunday, March 17, 2013 at Roanoke Memorial Hospital in Roanoke, VA. She Born March 18, 1921 in Greenfield, IL, she was the daughter of Raymond and Maude (Dawson) Jouett. She retired as a secretary from Civic Memorial Airport in Bethalto. She was a member of the Twelfth Street Presbyterian Church in Alton for 65 years and volunteered at St. Anthony’s Health Center for over 20 years. In June 1941, she married Howard E. Powell in St. Louis, MO. He preceded her in death on July 30, 1992. Surviving is a son, James J. Powell of Pearisburg, VA, two grandchildren, Linda Lucas and Kayla Cumbee, and one brother, Harold Jouett of Alton. In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by an infant son, Dennis Lee Powell, a brother, Raymuth Jouett, and three sisters, Geraldine Kessinger, Evalene Admire, and Pauline Perkins. Visitation will be from 10:00 a.m. until time of funeral service at 11:30 a.m. Thursday, March 21, 2013 at Gent Funeral Home in Alton. Reverend David Olson will officiate.
