Hugh Carroll Holman, 71, of East Alton, IL, died at 9:25 a.m. Sat. June 16, 2012 at his home with is family by his side.
He was born Nov. 17, 1940 in Benton, IL to the late Amos & Myrtle (Corsey) Holman.
On Nov. 11, 1961 he and Judith K. Davis were married in Benton, IL. She preceeded him in death on Jan. 4, 2002.
Mr. Holman retired from the Roxana School District after 25 years of service. He loved spending time with his family. He was very outgoing and never met a stranger, only friends he hadn’t met.
He is survived by: a daughter and son-in-law, Michelle & Randy Miller of Moro, IL, 4 sons and daughters-in-law, Michael & Carla Holman of Bethalto, IL, Mark & Kim Holman of Rockbridge, IL, Matthew & Michelle Holman of Dublin, OH, and Monty & Rebecca Holman of Smyrna, OH, 9 grandchildren, Ashley Miller, Adam (Courtney) Miller, Christen Holman, Andrew Holman, Gregory Holman, Dylan Holman, Christopher Holman, Nathan Holman, and Aaron Holman, 2 great-grandchildren, Leanna Smith and Wyatt Rhodes and a brother and sister-in-law, Paul & Lillian Holman of Alton IL.
Besides his wife and parents, he was preceded in death by 7 brothers and sister.
Visitation will be from 4:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. Mon. June 18, 2012 at Paynic Home for Funerals, where services will be at 10:00 a.m. on Tues. June 19, 2012 with Rev. Doug Haynes officiating. Burial will follow at Roselawn Memory Gardens.
