Herberta Marie Schroeder-Jackson

Our dearest loved one, Herberta Marie "Berta" Schroeder-Jackson, 89, left this earthly home at 1:30 p.m., Saturday, November 28, 2020, at Jerseyville Manor Nursing Home, to be with her heavenly Father.


She was born in Moro Township, Madison County, Illinois on Jan. 20, 1931, the daughter of Winfred Cecil and Eunice Marie (Hausman) Dale.


Her first marriage was to Sampson A. Sparks.   She later married Louis W. Schroeder on August 22, 1974 in Carlinville, Il., and together they were blessed with nine years before his death on Feb. 2, 1983.   She then married Glen Edward Jackson on Sept 5, 1999 in Jerseyville, and they shared nearly 18 years together before his death on May 11, 2017.


She was a loving and dedicated Mother and Grandmother who put her family's happiness before her own.  She will be deeply missed, but never forgotten by all those who loved and knew her.  She possessed a heart of gold and was full of love, and shared it with all who entered her home.  Her door was always open to anyone that was hungry, or needed financial or spiritual guidance. 


Berta considered her life a blessing, and willingly shared her blessings with everyone.  She had hugs and kisses to give away abundantly.


Surviving are her six children and their spouses, Sharon and Orville Isken of Moro, Diana and Charles Smock of Jerseyville, LaVonne "Bonnie" Ward of Alton, Julia and William Gray of Brighton, Anita and Steve Hallgren of Brighton, and Karl and Lora "Rene" Sparks of Brighton; a very special individual, whom she considered one of her own, Hazel Draper, and her husband, Red of Medora;  twelve grandchildren; numerous great grandchildren and great great grandchildren; a brother, Winfred Earl Dale of Cottage Hills; four sisters and a brother in-law, Marjorie Ramage of Brighton, Lois Voyles of East Alton, Donna Karpan of Wood River, and Marsha and Joe Harszy of Bethalto; a brother in-law, Fred "Fritz" Sparks of Edwardsville; a sister in-law, Lana Dale of Brighton; along with numerous nieces and nephews.


In addition to her parents and husbands, she was preceded in death by a son in-law, Samuel Ward Sr.;   two granddaughters, Diana Lynn Newby and Connie Jean Bates; three brothers and a sister in-law, Wilbur Lawrence and Dee Dale, Charles Lee Dale, and Stephen Anthony Dale; a sister, Genevieve Sparks; three brothers in-law, Ray Ramage, Artie Voyles and Charles Karpan; a sister in-law, Dorothy Dale; and nieces and nephews.


Private visitation and funeral services will be held at the Crawford Funeral Home in Jerseyville.  Rev. Amanda Hall will officiate.


She will be laid to rest in Valhalla Memorial Park in Godfrey.


Memorials may be given to the Alzheimers Association in care of the funeral home.
