Herbert W. Forcade, 89, passed away Saturday, September 21, 2024 at his home.
Born Sept. 12, 1935 in Wood River, he was the son of Herbert D. and Muriel B. (Oglesby) Forcade.
Herb was a school teacher, a job he dearly loved. After teaching a year in Montana, he spent 5 years in Wood River and retired in 1991 after 25 years in the Roxana School District. He had a fabulous sense of humor and an ever-present smile. His face would light up when his grandkids came to see him. He was a car enthusiast and could identify the make, model, and year of just about any car.
He married Mary Ann Wille Dec. 29, 1960 in Troy, IL and they shared over 63 years of marriage. In addition, he is survived by his two daughters, Kim (Kevin) Stuby of Grafton and Cindy (Gary) Hendley of Alton; 4 grandchildren, Daniel (Xiao “Charlie” Zhang) Stuby, Andrea Stuby, Zachary (Jennifer) Shanks, and Michael Stuby; two great grandchildren, Alexandria and Ezra Shanks; and a sister, Kathy (Tom Laengle) Noble of Alton.
He was preceded in death by his parents and a sister and brother-in-law, Jeanette (Larry) Eubanks.
Visitation will be 4-7 p.m. Friday, Sept. 27 at Paynic Home for Funerals, and will continue Saturday, Sept. 28 at Main Street United Methodist Church in Alton from 9 a.m. until services begin at 10 a.m. Burial will follow at Rose Lawn Memory Gardens.
