Helen Sands 89 passed away at 7:36 p.m. on Tuesday, November 26, 2024, at Jerseyville Manor. She was born June 21, 1935, in Oneonta, New York, the daughter of the late Donald and Lois (Watkins) Vincent. Helen was a registered nurse in the U.S. Air Force stationed at Nather Air Force Base in Sacramento, CA. She was a member of SS Peter and Paul Catholic Church in Alton.
Helen was an avid dog lover, enjoyed working puzzles, playing cards and bingo. She married Donald Eugene Sands, and he preceded her in death. Surviving are her care givers, John and Elaine Snyders of Godfrey. Besides her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by one brother, Charles Vincent and two sisters, Mary Fran Vincent and Patricia Cardillo.
A funeral mass will be Wednesday, December 4, 2024, at 10:00 a.m. at SS Peter & Paul Catholic Church in Alton. Burial will be at St. Patrick’s Cemetery in Godfrey. Father Jeff Holtman will officiate. Memorials may be made to SS Peter & Paul Catholic Church. The family would like to thank the staff at Evergreen Senior Living and Jerseyville Manor for the kind care they gave to Helen.
